Why professional packing matters
Most moving damage happens because of poor packing — not rough handling during transport. A plate wrapped in newspaper and tossed into a box with other items will break. A TV screen without foam corner protectors will crack. A wooden table without blanket wrapping will get scratched. These are preventable problems.
Our packing service exists because packing is a skill, not just a task. Our team is trained to assess each item, choose the right material, apply the right technique, and label everything so unpacking at the other end is organised — not a treasure hunt.
You can hire our packing service as a standalone offering, even if you're arranging your own transport. Many customers use us for packing only when they have a company-provided vehicle or a friend helping with the move.
Our packing process
Room-by-room approach
We don't pack randomly. Our team works room by room, starting from the least-used spaces (guest rooms, storage areas) and finishing with the most-used ones (kitchen, master bedroom). This way, you can continue using your home normally while packing is in progress.
Each room is completed fully before moving to the next. This systematic approach ensures nothing gets missed and boxes from different rooms don't get mixed up.
Item-specific packing techniques
Different items need different treatment. Here's how we handle common household categories:
- Crockery and glassware — each piece is individually wrapped in bubble wrap, then placed upright in partitioned boxes. Glasses go rim-down. Plates are stacked vertically, not flat. Gaps are filled with crumpled packing paper.
- Electronics (TVs, monitors) — screens are covered with foam sheets, corners protected with foam guards, and the entire unit is wrapped in stretch film. Packed in double-walled boxes or original packaging when available.
- Clothing — folded neatly in wardrobe boxes (with hanging rail) or packed in large boxes with tissue paper between layers. Seasonal items and rarely worn clothes are vacuum-sealed to save space.
- Books — packed in small, sturdy boxes (never large ones, as they become too heavy). Spines facing down, gaps filled with packing paper.
- Artwork and frames — glass surfaces covered with masking tape (to prevent shattering), wrapped in bubble wrap, and placed in custom flat boxes with foam padding.
- Kitchen appliances — mixer grinders, toasters, and small appliances are wrapped individually and packed with their cords taped to the body. Larger appliances like microwaves get foam corner protection.
Labelling system
Every box we pack gets a detailed label: the room it belongs to, a brief description of contents, a box number (matching our inventory sheet), and handling instructions (FRAGILE, THIS SIDE UP, HEAVY). This labelling system is what makes unloading and unpacking efficient instead of chaotic.
You receive a copy of the complete inventory sheet — a list of every box with its number, contents summary, and destination room. This is your reference document for verifying delivery.
Materials we use
We bring everything — you don't need to buy or arrange any packing materials. Here's what our team arrives with:
- 5-ply corrugated boxes — available in 4 sizes (small for books/heavy items, medium for kitchen, large for clothes/linen, extra-large for bulky items). Double-walled boxes for fragile items.
- Bubble wrap — standard 10mm and heavy-duty 25mm rolls for different levels of protection
- Foam sheets — 5mm and 10mm thickness for wrapping electronics, glass surfaces, and delicate furniture
- Stretch film — industrial-grade cling wrap for securing furniture blankets, bundling items, and waterproofing
- Packing paper — acid-free, ink-free paper for wrapping items that can be stained or scratched by printed newspaper
- Heavy-duty tape — 3-inch wide industrial tape for sealing boxes. We use H-taping method (across top and bottom seams) for maximum strength.
- Wardrobe boxes — tall boxes with a metal hanging rail so clothes stay on hangers and arrive wrinkle-free
- Furniture blankets — thick padded blankets (72" x 80") for wrapping sofas, tables, wardrobes, and other large furniture
- Corner protectors — foam and cardboard edge guards for furniture corners and electronic screens
- Zip-lock bags — for screws, bolts, keys, and small hardware from dismantled furniture
Unpacking service at destination
Our unpacking service is the reverse of packing — systematic, room by room, with everything placed where you want it. Here's what it includes:
- Box opening and item placement — we open every box, unwrap items, and place them in the locations you specify
- Kitchen setup — crockery placed in cabinets, utensils in drawers, appliances on countertops
- Wardrobe arrangement — clothes hung or folded and placed in wardrobes and dressers
- Furniture reassembly — beds, dining tables, bookshelves, and other dismantled furniture reassembled in the correct rooms
- Electronics setup — TVs mounted or placed on stands, computers reconnected (basic cable connections)
- Debris removal — all packing materials (boxes, wrap, paper, tape) collected and removed from your home
Packing service pricing guide
Packing is priced based on the volume of items and the materials required. Here's a general guide:
1 BHK (packing only): ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 — includes all materials, 2-person crew, 3–4 hours of work.
2 BHK (packing only): ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 — includes all materials, 2–3 person crew, 4–6 hours of work.
3 BHK (packing only): ₹8,000 to ₹16,000 — includes all materials, 3–4 person crew, 5–8 hours of work.
4+ BHK (packing only): ₹14,000 to ₹25,000+ — depends on volume, special items, and crew size needed.
Unpacking service: Typically 40–60% of the packing cost, as it's faster (no wrapping needed, just placement).
These prices include all materials. There are no separate charges for boxes, tape, or bubble wrap — everything is bundled in the quote.
When to hire packing-only service
Our packing service is ideal in several scenarios:
- You have your own transport — your company is providing a vehicle, or a friend is helping with the truck, but you need professional packing
- You're using a different mover for transport — some customers hire us for packing and use another company for transport
- You're storing items — packing items properly before putting them in storage ensures they stay protected for months
- You're shipping items — if you're sending boxes via courier or cargo, professional packing ensures they survive the journey
- You have fragile or valuable items — even for a small number of items, professional packing can prevent costly damage
Frequently asked questions about packing
How long does packing take?
A 1 BHK typically takes 3 to 4 hours. A 2 BHK takes 4 to 6 hours. A 3 BHK takes 5 to 8 hours. Larger homes may require a full day. We usually complete packing in a single visit, but for very large homes, we may schedule packing across two days.
Can I pack some things myself and have you do the rest?
Absolutely. Many customers pack their clothes and personal items themselves and hire us for the kitchen, electronics, and fragile items. We call this "partial packing" and it's priced based on the rooms or categories we handle.
Do you supply packing materials without the packing service?
Yes. If you want to pack yourself but need quality materials, we can deliver a packing kit to your home — boxes, bubble wrap, tape, markers, and labels. Kits are priced based on home size and typically cost ₹1,500 to ₹4,000.
What items should I pack myself?
We recommend keeping the following with you (not in the moving boxes): important documents (passports, property papers, certificates), jewellery and cash, daily medications, phone chargers and laptop, one change of clothes, and toiletries for the first night at your new home.
